The challenge
Murali Brand has been a trusted name in authentic Kerala spices and rice in Calicut since 1986, founded by Akshay Murali’s father. Today Akshay Murali, a passionate second-generation grocery entrepreneur, wants to take the family business to its next level.
The business had decades of trust but lived almost entirely offline. To grow, and to reach a new generation of customers who shop on their phones, it needed a digital presence as strong as its reputation.
What we did
For the past six months we’ve been leading Murali Brand’s move into a complete digital ecosystem.
- Digital transformation plan: a step-by-step roadmap taking the business from offline-only to fully connected.
- A WhatsApp ordering community: a direct channel where regular customers see what’s new, order in a few taps and stay loyal to the brand.
- A proper website: being planned as the home of the brand and its products.
- Personal branding for Akshay: video content positioning him as the young face of a heritage brand.
- The Murali Brand documentary: a brand film portraying Murali Brand as one of the pioneers of Calicut’s spice and rice trade, telling the family story with the warmth it deserves.
Six months in, Murali Brand has a clear digital roadmap, a growing WhatsApp ordering community and a brand film that tells its story better than any advert could. The website and wider ecosystem are being built now, with the same goal throughout: carry forty years of trust into the way people shop today.
